Who We Are
IDWP strives to bring relief, hope, and clean safe drinking water to rural dwellers in Liberia by drilling safe wells, building reservoirs, and installing pumps in close proximity — thereby making water easily accessible.
We are one of the few organizations to undertake such a water development project in Liberia. We are mainly supported by individual donors who see the essence and need for clean and safe drinking water in our global society.
Our philosophy is simple: clean and safe water helps prevent diseases.
Founded in 2007 through a Master's capstone project in Project Management at St. Mary's University of Minnesota.
Our Origin Story
The idea behind IDWP was initiated by Otis H. Gardiner, a Liberian with residence in Minnesota, in 2007 while working on his Master of Science capstone project in Project Management at St. Mary's University of Minnesota.
Gardiner chose a water development project for his capstone because he saw the critical need for clean and safe drinking water in Liberia — his native country — with its collapsed infrastructure after 15 years of civil war.
He strongly believes this project can be highly beneficial to Liberia and other African countries, because a similar project has already proven highly successful in South Africa.
Modeled after a successful water project in South Africa, IDWP brings proven solutions to Liberia and the wider African continent.
Our Organization
IDWP is currently governed and managed by a dedicated Board of Directors and several volunteer staff dedicated to our mission.
We are primarily supported by individuals who believe in the fundamental human right to clean drinking water.
Our operations are powered by dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to advance our mission in Liberia.
