Our Story & Mission
Who We Are
International Development Water Project
IDWP strives to bring relief, hope, and clean safe drinking water to rural dwellers in Liberia by drilling safe wells, building reservoirs, and installing pumps in close proximity — thereby making water easily accessible.
We are headquartered in Minnesota, USA, and registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our work is carried out entirely by volunteers and funded by individual donors.
Our Origin Story
How IDWP Began
The idea behind IDWP was initiated by Otis H. Gardiner, a Liberian with residence in Minnesota, in 2007 while working on his Master of Science capstone project in Project Management at St. Mary's University of Minnesota.
What began as an academic project became a lasting commitment: to use project management skills in service of the communities he came from.

We are mainly supported by individual donors who see the need for clean and safe drinking water in our global society.
Volunteer Staff
Our staff is composed entirely of volunteers, which means contributions go directly toward water infrastructure in Liberia.
